OUR RESIDENT LONE TREE PETS

 Cole

Hi, I'm Cole, and I'm a standard schnauzer.  I'm 2 years old and live with Dr. Moyle and get to come here every day.  It's great!

When I first came to Colorado, I was really scared and missed my schnauzer family a lot.  I'm from a place called Ontario, Canada, where I had lots of brothers and sisters that I played with every day.  Then, one day my brother and I came here.  I don't know why we came, but now I'm really glad because I like my new home and all my friends.

The best part of my day is being in Eric's play camp in the obedience room.  It's just a bunch of us dogs hanging out and playing with each other, and it's really cool!  I've made a lot of friends in play camp and am always happy to see them.  My brother lives close by, so he comes to play camp sometimes, too.

I've learned so many things since I've been here, and I really like working with Eric because he's helped me learn many life skills that every dog needs to live with people.  I'm pretty strong and pull a lot on my lead when I go for walks so, lately, we've been working on that and I think I'm doing a lot better.

I also try hard to be a good big brother to my little sister, Phoebe, who is a miniature schnauzer and is blind.

My favorite thing to do when I'm not here is to chase rabbits and squirrels in my yard, and then watch them from the window when I'm inside.  I'm good at running and jumping, too.  I also like to play with my toys and carry around my rawhide bone.

Anyway, this is a very friendly place and I really like all the people here.  I also like seeing all of you when you come in.  I always try to be friendly and hope to be your friend, too.

See you in play camp!

Taymor

Hi, I'm Taymor, a blue front amazon, and I used to live in the lobby, but now I hang out in the medical department.

I think that I have the best job here because I get to see all the pets that come in all day long, and it's pretty interesting.  I especially get a kick out of the dogs that see me for the first time and are surprised that birds can talk.

You probably wonder about my vocabulary.  I've acquired many words over the years, but I have a few favorites because they're fun to say.  'Hello' is one, and when I say it, I like to roll my vocal cords and make this word sound like I'm singing it.  People aren't used to hearing this and I get a lot of attention when I do it.

I am especially fond of our staff, because they always make sure I have a lot of food and that I'm comfortable.  I know a lot of stuff, too, from listening to what they say and have even heard them tell others that I'm a smart bird.  Pretty cool!

Although it may appear that I'm not that easy to get to know -- I can be kind of persnickety -- I'm always working to improve my social skills and do enjoy all the people who recognize me and say "hi".  I also love to eat and got really sick from eating human food once and almost died.  No need to worry, though, because I'm OK now.

Toodles!

Violet

Hi, I'm Violet.  I am a dog behavior specialist and I live with Eric.  He brings me to work almost every day because I am his assistant and I help him do his job.  I love coming here because I get to play with all of my friends and get massages but, most importantly, I Help other dogs learn how to be good because manners really do matter for us.

I spend a bunch of time here with my friend Cole, who is kind of like my apprentice, and I am teaching him everything I know about helping other dogs be good.  He's a good sport and it's fun!

I have one brother, Alley Gator, and one sister, Allegra.  We have some really good times together at home and on walks.  I also live with a cat named Java Bean, who's pretty OK, as far as cats go.

Anyway, I always look forward to seeing new and old friends when they come for obedience training or just to play.  There's so much to do here and we always have a good time.  Remember, if you are afraid or just want to make a doggie friend, let Eric know and he will make sure I get to meet you.

Many Happy Barks to You All!

Bailey

Hello, there, I'm Bailey, and l live here in the medical department.  A long time ago, I was sick and came here because my family could no longer take care of me.  People must really like me here because I got to stay, so I'm pretty happy about that --this is a good place to live and I'm very comfortable.

I usually spend my days lying around the veterinarian's office, although, I think I'm pretty professional about it.  I enjoy listening to the veterinarians and nurses, and learning medical information -- it's very interesting to me.  I also play with the toys people bring in, but I never scavenge for scraps of food.  If someone is eating their lunch, I just wait for the right opportunity and beg -- I'm not proud, because I think when a cat is hungry, that cat has got to eat!  I feel appreciated and understood in that regard, as I usually can get something quite tasty this way.  I also really enjoy the food here and my regular meals are always on time.

If I were to offer one bit of advice to cats (and all you other pets, too) who come here it would be to chill out -- it's OK, you'll be fine.  I know that because when I was sick I had to be shaved and take medicine, and, boy, was I ever scared!  But the nurses always made sure I was warm and that my bed was comfortable.  Then, one day I got well and after that, my hair grew back.  So you see, things can work out.

You can say "hello" to me when you come in if you want.  Like I said, I'm usually in the veterinarians' office living up to my potential, but I always enjoy seeing new faces and it's good for me to get out and meet others.

Meows!
