FEBRUARY IS NATIONAL PET DENTAL CARE MONTH

"Good oral health is one of the most important components of preventive care for dogs and cats.  In fact, it's one of the two key pillars of health and well-being in pets."

In order to help you help your pet start off the year with clean, healthy teeth and gums,  we're offering free dental screens, toothbrushing demonstrations, and oral care giveaways -- all month long.

Stop in and see us and find out why... all it takes is 'one'.

Why Oral Health Is So Important

♦ Keeping your pet's teeth and gums clean and healthy is good preventive medicine because it helps curb serious oral problems, such as gum disease, bad breath, tooth decay, and tooth loss.

♦ Poor oral health can also cause considerable pain, discomfort, and difficulty in chewing, and may result in the need for costly oral surgery.

♦ Neglecting your pet's oral health can lead to serious illnesses over time, including, systemic disease of the kidney, liver, joints, and heart -- all of which can rob your pet of a long and comfortable life.

What About Routine Maintenance?

Just as in people, it's very important.  We recommend that you help your pet maintain good oral hygiene on a daily basis.  You can use one method or combine several methods, including tooth brushing, oral rinses, and dental chews.  Many of these products can be purchased in our retail center, such as tooth brushing kits, flavored toothpastes, oral rinses, and C.E.T. chews in several sizes.  Your veterinarian or nurse will be happy to help you select the method(s) and products that will best suit your pet's needs.

Oral chews are good        When Routine Care Isn't Enough

Sometimes, chews, rinses and brushing aren't enough and a dental cleaning is needed to maintain good oral health.

At our facility, a Dental is a thorough cleaning of the teeth and gums that includes ultrasonic scaling, hand scaling, root planing, polishing, and a fluoride treatment.

Our dental cleanings are performed by our certified veterinary nurses under the supervision of our attending veterinarian.  Should you elect to have additional dentistry services provided at the time of your pet's dental cleaning, they will be performed by our attending veterinarian.

Dental patients usually go home the same day of their dental procedure.

Dentals are performed Monday through Friday and can be scheduled at your convenience.  They can also be provided for your pet during a boarding stay.
